What you can expect from Hopfile, and what we expect from you, with or without an account.
1. Publisher
Hopfile is a service published by Koruma Studio (Kevin Ragonneau EI), 38, rue des Mathurins, 75008 Paris, France. All details are in the legal notice.
2. The service
Hopfile lets you send files through a download link, with or without an account, protect them with a password or an expiry date, and track visits and downloads. With an account, you can also send the link by email to your recipient, receive files through a file request, and get notified of visits and downloads by email or on other services (Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, webhook). The service is free. Without an account, a transfer can hold up to 5 GB and stays available for up to 7 days; with a free account, up to 10 GB and 15 days.
3. Your account
- These terms and the privacy policy apply to every transfer, with or without an account, however you create your account: with an email address, with Google or with Apple.
- The information you provide must be accurate and kept up to date.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for the activity of your account.
4. Sending rules
You are solely responsible for the files you send and for the people you give the link to. You must hold the necessary rights to these files. It is forbidden to send or share with Hopfile:
- unlawful, hateful, violent or harassing content, or content that invades someone else's privacy;
- content that infringes third-party rights (counterfeiting, works shared without permission);
- malware, phishing pages or files intended to deceive their recipients;
- unsolicited messages (spam), including through sending by email.
Sending by email is limited to a number of sends per day, to prevent abuse. Only use it for people who are expecting your files.
If you create a file request, you choose who you give its link to. Files dropped there are subject to the same rules: if you receive forbidden content, report it to us.
The services you connect for your notifications (Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, webhook) belong to other companies and have their own terms. Hopfile is not responsible for how they work.
5. Reporting content
To report a file you believe is unlawful, write to contact@gethopfile.com or use our contact form, with:
- the exact link of the transfer;
- the reasons why you believe it is unlawful;
- your name and email address.
Every report is read by a member of the team, promptly. We may delete the transfer or suspend the account concerned, and we inform its author of our decision and the reasons for it when we can reach them. This address is also our point of contact for authorities and users, in French or English.
6. Suspension and deletion
If these terms are breached, we may delete a transfer, suspend or delete an account, after informing you, except in an emergency or for manifestly unlawful content.
You can delete a transfer at any time from your account, and delete your account from its settings. Deletion is permanent.
7. File retention
Files are deleted automatically on the expiry date of the transfer, and files received through a file request on the end date of the request. Hopfile is not a backup service: always keep a copy of your files.
8. Advertising
The website shows no ads today. Ads may be added later on the website and download pages to fund the free service; these terms and the privacy policy will then be updated.
9. Availability of the service
We do our best to keep the service available at all times, on a best-efforts basis. Interruptions may occur, in particular for maintenance or if a provider fails.
10. Liability
Hopfile is not responsible for the files sent by users, nor for the loss of files you did not keep a copy of. These terms do not limit the rights you have as a consumer.
11. Personal data
How your data is processed is described in our privacy policy.
For the files you send or receive, your recipients' addresses, the statistics of your transfers and your notifications, Hopfile acts as a processor within the meaning of article 28 of the GDPR. Hopfile processes this data only to provide the service and according to your instructions, protects it with appropriate security measures, only uses the providers listed in the privacy policy, and deletes it when the transfer expires or with your account.
12. Intellectual property
You remain the owner of your files. You grant Hopfile, for the duration of the transfer, the free and non-exclusive right to host them and make them available to the people who have the link, only to run the service.
The service, its interface, the Hopfile name and logo are protected. You may not reproduce them without permission.
13. Changes to the terms
These terms may change. In case of a significant change, we let you know by email or on the website before it takes effect. If you do not accept the new terms, you can delete your account.
14. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If there is a problem, please write to us first at contact@gethopfile.com: we will look for an amicable solution. Otherwise, the dispute will be brought before the competent courts.
